How are children taught in the
senior forms?
As pupils move up the school, subject specialists
teach children on a subject basis. Setting in some subjects, according
to achievement, is also introduced at the top of the school for some
year groups. This arrangement further enhances the individual attention
that Long Close children enjoy.
What teaching methods are used?
Members of staff endeavour to combine the best
of traditional teaching methods with modern educational ideas.

Calendar is celebrated and the five main religions of the world
are explored in religious studies. Harvest Festival and a Christmas
Carol Service are celebrated in a local church.

the School?
Computers are used across the curriculum in classrooms
and laboratories, while Information and Communication Technology
is taught in the Schools dedicated computer suite with internet

What about Music and Drama?
Besides the class music

There is an extensive range of clubs
and activities at Long Close in addition to the traditional
team games such as netball & rounders; cricket, rugby &

What is the provision for Art
& Design?
All the children participate in art and craft
activities in addition to the ever-increasing role that the Design

the specialist art room and design & technology room that helps
to develop their powers of observation, technical and presentation
skills, problem solving abilities and creativity.
What is the discipline like
at Long Close?
We have high expectations
of all at the School and this includes the behaviour, dress and
manners of our children. The staff will intervene to correct inappropriate
behaviour, but we have a happy school that seeks to reward and praise
its children for their friendly and caring attitude to others.
