Drama
To develop their imaginations, creativity and
self-confidence, children of all ages are actively encouraged to
be involved in a variety of dramatic activities. All pupils also
have the opportunity to participate in plays, recitals and seasonal
performances held throughout the school year. Drama and
dance lessons are taught by enthusiastic specialists throughout
the school. Frequent theatre visits
are also arranged for pupils in order to foster an interest in drama.
Art
and Design
To develop their powers of observation,
technical skill, presentation and creativity all children at Long
Close participate in art and craft activities. Children are exposed
to a rich variety of technique and medium, using the many facilities
available to them at the school, including our own kiln.
Design Technology plays an ever-increasing role
as the children move up through the school. Pupils are given the
opportunity to work individually, and in groups, on a variety of
design projects, when they learn to experiment with different materials
and to evaluate their own work.
Music
Every pupil is involved in class music
as an integral part of the curriculum. In addition to this there
is the opportunity to join one of our choirs or musical groups,
such as the recorder group or orchestra.
Individual tuition is available in chosen instruments
from the many visiting music teachers, and children are encouraged
to enter the Associated Board examinations.
