Educational Policy

Long Close offers a dedicated programme of education:

  • 11+ The 11+ programme for girls and boys from 2 to 11 years of age, culminating in the 11+ examinations to senior schools.

Long Close provides a rich learning environment for boys and girls. The curriculum prepares children for senior schools at 11, but in addition we attach great importance to providing all our children with a balanced and broadly based education, from their first days in the nursery through to the ages of 11 and 16.

Curriculum

We cover the requirements of the National Curriculum and Key Stage testing. Great emphasis is given to a firm foundation in English, Mathematics and Science .

Subjects such as History, Geography, Games, Information & Communication Technology, Physical Education, Personal Social & Health Education, Religious Studies, Design & Technology, French, Music, Drama and Art all have a significant status.

Values

We aim to act in partnership with the family to foster a child’s early enthusiasm for learning, to encourage motivation and self-discipline, and to instil important values of honesty and personal responsibility together with a spirit of service.

Each child is encouraged to fulfil his or her potential and to achieve success in as many areas as possible, in a disciplined and happy environment.
