History of Long Close School, Slough
Founded in 1940, originally as a boys’ school, Long Close has developed into a co-educational day school with a well-established reputation for friendliness and achievement.
Occupying a large and attractive site in Upton, Long Close now accepts children to the nursery from 2 years of age and prepares children for the 11+ entrance examinations and GCSE.
In 2004, Asquith Court Schools were bought by Cognita Ltd, a new education company chaired by Chris Woodhead, the first Chief Inspector of Schools. Cognita has over 45 schools in its portfolio, both in UK and abroad and is the largest independent schools business in the UK.
