Parents’ Association

The school’s active Parents’ Association provides a programme of social activities to promote fun and friendship amongst Long Close families. Events include fairs, balls and family fun days. The association also arranges fundraising activities to provide additional resources for the children.

Get involved

The Association always welcomes new members, whether parents new to the school or those who have been part of Long Close for some time.

Goals

The Parents’ Association aims to:

• promote fun and friendship between all the parents, teachers and children of Long Close thereby creating a good atmosphere around the school.
• Raise money to buy special items for the children in the school, through organising fund raising events.

How the Parents’ association works

• The Association meets once a month during term time and meetings are open to all parents. The Head and other staff representatives also usually attend.
• Each class of the school has a class representative. The class reps do not have to attend all the meetings but act as a link with the other parents in that class.
• Parents’ Association events each have a project manager, sometimes called a project champion. Although many people are involved in organising and running events the project manager takes the lead. This spreads the load so that one person does not end up running all events, and everyone gets a chance to get involved.
