International Women’s Day

Today is International Women’s Day and Long Close’s Headteacher, Miss Nijjar, has a message for young women.

“This year’s theme #ChoosetoChallenge, calling on us all to think critically about our own thoughts and actions and how we can better promote gender inequality and celebrate women’s achievements.

As an educator, I have always sought to encourage girls and support them to believe that, when they set their mind to it and are willing to work hard, there is so much they can achieve regardless of societal norms and traditions. I think it is so important that women and young girls develop the confidence to realise their self-worth and take risks on the chances they encounter. As a Headteacher, I am in a privileged position of being able to share my life experiences in the hope of empowering our girls to tap into that confidence and achieve their own growth.” #IWD2021 #LongClose
