In these unprecedented times, the role of our parent body within the life Long Close School has never been more crucial.

As well as creating memorable events, the PTA provides lots of opportunities to meet other parents, make new friends and have a lot of fun along the way.

As the world continues to be socially distanced, and locked down, how does an enthusiastic parent body continue to connect and support each other in a virtual world?

If you think you are ready to take on this challenge and would like to be part of a team of hugely supportive parents, we would love to hear from you.

Long Close pupils have always relished the exciting events that our amazing PTA teams have organised for them over the years. From Christmas Fayres and Easter Egg Hunts through to presents for Mother’s Day; the PTA plays a vital role in school life.

Although it is uncertain when we can have face-to-face events again, social connections and fundraising events remain an important part of school and childhood memories. It may require a bit of creativity, but online and virtual events can be an excellent substitute.

As well as bringing children from the whole School together for fun and friendship, the money raised by the parent body has been used to make some important long-term investments in equipment such as quality gazebos, table tennis, and a mobile PA system.

Following two incredibly successful years running the PTA, our current committee is standing down and resuming volunteer roles within the Team. They have kindly offered to provide full training to anyone who takes on the vacant positions below:

Chairperson: Take charge and lead the way to building an LCS community

Treasurer: Ensure funds are raised for the next project, whatever it may be!

Communications Officer: Tell everyone what is happening so that everyone can join in the fun!

In addition to the main committee, it is helpful to have a parent representative from each Year Group to spread the word and gather volunteers when required. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we can host some of our most popular events such as Summer and Christmas Fayres.

If you would like to find out more before making a commitment, please register your interest in the PTA by emailing with your details by Monday 9 November.

Once we have everyone’s details, I will arrange a Zoom meeting for all the parents who have expressed an interest in volunteering and invite former Committee members to provide some insight into life within the PTA team.
