We are proud at Long Close to welcome students of different abilities and aptitudes. We assess all of our starters before they join the school so that we are immediately able to offer whatever learning support they might need.
If we have a worry about a particular child, for example, our Senior Special Educational Needs Coordinator will meet with the parents to discuss a plan of action. For issues such as dyslexia, dyscalculia or dyspraxia, that might mean organising for an educational expert to offer regular support, or for a specially trained teacher to work closely with the child in the classroom or in a small group.
We take great care to keep track of every one of our pupils as they progress through the school, preparing an Individual Education Plan for each one and constantly updating it in consultation with their parents. That way, we are confident that we can identify and deal with any educational needs as they arise.
