Girls Sports

On Friday 23rd Feb, the U10B team played a match against St. Bernard’s. The Players were Mishal Chowdry, Aamnah Mehdi, Aliyah Naveed, Aammra Bibi, Kismut Bedeasha, Anihsa Naidoo and Laiba Majid.

The game started with a great pass from Aliyah to Mishal. Mishal had a chance at scoring but missed. Anisha and Laiba did some good defending and intercepted the ball many times. Aamnah did some good running which helped us during the game. Aliyah passed the ball to Aammra who tried to shoot but unfortunately missed again.

At half time, St. Bernards upped their game and it was alot trickier but the LCS defenders worked very hard. Sadly, St. Bernards scored a goal at the end  of the match it was 1-0 to LCS.

Well done girls keep it up!

Girl of the match and Captain was Mishal Chowdry 

On Wednesday 21st Feb, the U10 netball team played against Upton House. The match started quickly when Upton House scored their first goal. After the first quarter Long Close gained in confidence and started to move quickly around the court and defend alot better. Holly Hunter made an accurate pass to Suhani Jain who scored to make it 1-1 at half-time. In the third quarter Saloni Bhagi and Mariyah Ahmed made some good passes up to Holly who just couldn’t get the ball in. Upton House then managed to make it 2-1. In the final quarter, both teams played very well Isha Kolley and Alina Miah intercepted the ball many times, but it wasn’t to be. Upton House scored another goal to make the final score 3-1.

Well done girls. Girl of the game was Mariyah Ahmed.

On Friday 23rd February the U10 netball team played against St Bernard’s who started the game very quickly with some fast passing. Long Close soon intercepted the ball and passed it up to Suhani Jain who scored the first goal of the game. St Bernard’s tried different passes to try and get around our defence, but the team managed to get the ball again and score twice more.  In the second half St Bernard’s started to play more accurately and began to keep the ball for long enough to score some goals. When it was 3-2 up to Long Close, the team managed an extra effort and increased the lead so that the final score was a 6-4 win to Long Close. Well done!  Girl of the game was Isha Kolley.

This has been a very ‘women centred week’ with International Women’s Day on Thursday and now Mother’s day on the horizon. We hope that you are all celebrated on Sunday for being the amazing Mum’s that you are (take note Dad’s as it will be your turn in June).

Now that he weather is feeling more spring like we can start to think about Easter, it is coming sooner than you think! See below for some fun Easter events we have planned for the children.
