Schools in Slough
At Long Close School we take great pride in the success that our Year 6 children enjoy in their Common Entrance exams. In recent years our pupils have secured scholarships to prestigious independent schools such as The Abbey, Hampton, Wellington and Millfield, while others have gained places at Eton College and excellent local grammar schools such as Langley, Herschel and Burnham. However, an increasing number of our Year 6 pupils are choosing not to leave at all.
One of the advantages of being an all-through school is that we can provide a high-quality education to each pupil from the age of 2 through to 16. For a growing number of our parents – particularly those with children of different ages – the chance to enjoy the benefits of a truly family-friendly school is proving to be irresistible. Such is the demand for places at the Senior School that we have had to operate a waiting list system for September 2019 entry, with a new intake of pupils from external primary and junior schools also keen to benefit from the outstanding education that the school offers.
Most of our Year 11 leavers go on to study for A-levels at grammar, selective independent schools or high-performing sixth-form colleges. Recent destinations, for example, have included Langley Grammar, Herschel and Hampton. They do so armed not only with better GCSE results than they were expecting but with all the personal attributes required to help them succeed.
Whether in the run-up to Year 5 or Year 11, we offer a wealth of advice and experience to all of our pupils and parents as they consider the range of options open to them. Our priority, as ever, is to secure the best possible future for each child – along the pathway that most suits them.
