Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in our school. As a result of the current coronavirus crisis, we are changing the way we are working to provide parents with the peace of mind that they can still plan for their child’s educational future. You can still contact the team using the information below. 

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make.

Our Registrar would be delighted to assist you in finding out more about Long Close School and can answer any questions you may have.

The main points of entry are Nursery, Reception, Year 3 and Year 7 but it is usually possible for children to join in other year groups too. Please do get in touch and arrange to visit our happy school community where small class sizes mean that every child can fulfil their potential.

Step 2

Visit Us

Attend an open morning or arrange a private tour of the school with our Registrar.

We encourage prospective parents to come and see our school in action, either during one of our open mornings which are held each term, or on a private tour. At Long Close School ‘Every Day is an Open Day’ and we are always delighted to arrange a tour on a busy working day to show you why we are so proud of our lovely school.

Step 3

Complete and Return a Registration Form

To apply for a place at Long Close School, please complete the registration form, together with payment of a non-refundable registration fee of £100. Our Registrar will then contact you to confirm safe receipt of your child’s registration and to discuss the next steps.

Step 4

Invitation to attend a Taster Day/Session/Assessment

You will receive an invitation for your child to come in for a taster day/taster session or assessment.

Long Close is a non-selective school so children do not sit an entrance exam, but for entry from Reception onwards, children will be given age-appropriate assessments during their taster day to enable staff to measure their ability in class so ensuring a smooth transition on entry and to allow us to help them to fulfil their potential.

  • Early Years taster session – children joining the Nursery, Transition and those joining Reception in the following Autumn Term, will be invited to spend the morning with us, usually between 09:30 am and 11:30 am.
  • Taster Days for Year 1 – Year 9 pupils – children can spend the whole school day with us and take part in normal class activities. Lunch will be provided. Children joining Long Close School mid way through the year in one of our current Reception classes can join us for a full day too.

Step 5

Offer a Place

Following a successful Taster Day or Session, the Headteacher will write to you (the prospective parents), officially offering your child a place at Long Close School. Upon receipt of the admissions paperwork and the accompanying deposit (£600) to secure the place, our Registrar will then contact you to discuss a start date for your child.  This will be refunded to you following your child’s final term at the school subject to the school being given the required one term’s notice as per the terms and conditions of our contract.

Our application deadline for September 2022 entry is: Friday 26 November 2021.
