Admissions Process

Admissions Process

Thank you for your interest in our school.

We know that choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you will ever make and we would welcome the opportunity to help you.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the school with a private tour from our admissions registrar, offering you the perfect way to find out more about our school and answer any questions that you might have.

Please register your interest by completing our quick Enquiry Form, or calling 01753 520095, and our Admissions Manager will gladly assist you in discovering more about Long Close School, including why ISI Inspectors rated us “outstanding in all areas”.

Traditionally, the main points of entry are Nursery, Reception, Year 3 and Year 7 , however, it is may be possible for children to join in other year groups too when places arise. Please do get in touch and arrange to visit our happy school community where small class sizes mean that every child can fulfil their potential.

Step 1

Request a Prospectus

Our new Virtual Open Day Experience contains in-depth information, photographs and videos, all designed to give you further valuable insight into the ethos, aims and success of Long Close.

You can also request a copy of our prospectus or take a Virtual Tour of our school premises.

Step 2

Visit Us

To arrange a private tour of the school with our Admissions Registrar, please call 01753 520095.

Step 3

Complete and Return a Registration Form

When you are ready to apply for a place at Long Close School, please complete the registration form, together with payment of a non-refundable registration fee of £100. Our Registrar will then contact you to confirm safe receipt of your child’s registration and to discuss the next steps.

Step 4

Invitation to attend a Taster Day/Session/Assessment

You will receive an invitation for your child to come in for a taster day/taster session or assessment.

Long Close is a non-selective school so children do not sit an entrance exam, but for entry from Reception onwards, children will be given age-appropriate assessments during their taster day to enable staff to measure their ability in class so ensuring a smooth transition on entry and to allow us to help them to fulfil their potential.

  • Early Years taster session – children joining the Nursery, Transition and those joining Reception in the following Autumn Term, will be invited to spend the morning with us, usually between 9:30 am and 11:30 am.
  • Taster Days for Year 1 – Year 9 pupils – children can spend the whole school day with us and take part in normal class activities. Lunch will be provided. Children joining Long Close School mid way through the year in one of our current Reception classes can join us for a full day too.

Step 5

Offer a Place

Following a successful Taster Day or Session, the Headteacher will write to you (the prospective parents), officially offering your child a place at Long Close School. Upon receipt of the admissions paperwork and the accompanying deposit (£600 for Reception upwards, £300 for Nursery and Pre-school) to secure the place, our Registrar will then contact you to discuss a start date for your child.  This will be refunded to you following your child’s final term at the school subject to the school being given the required one term’s notice as per the terms and conditions of our contract.

Admissions are now open for September 2023 entry, and our application deadline is Friday 25 November 2022.
