Pastoral Care

The wellbeing of our students continues to be a priority for Long Close School and this is made all the more possible thanks to our small class sizes.

The Form Teacher is the first and main contact for pupils and parents. They will spend much of the day with their class, teaching various subjects. While at school, the Form Teacher acts in Loco Parentis for the children and is available to help sort out any problems encountered during the day.

As well as the academic, the Form Teacher plays a central role in the pastoral care and wellbeing of the children. They will regularly talk and listen to the children in their class about pastoral and wellbeing issues.

In the Autumn term of 2020, we are strengthening our pastoral support framework with the introduction of AS Tracking in our Prep School. Pupils in Year 5 and 6 will be the first year groups to undertake the assessments, but we hope to implement the system across all year groups. Mr N Lee is the Lead Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for Long Close School. He works with a team who share different areas of lead responsibility in safeguarding roles throughout the school.
